Abstract: Star Wars is a multigenerational saga. To look at it from a certain perspective brings with it the nostalgia as everyone who was born in the 70s or 80s has a personal history with Star Wars. However, it is no coincidence that the franchise made it this far, both globally and temporally. Precise strategies have been used throughout its marketing. I took on this project to examine these strategies. This study has three objectives: First, it examines Star Wars as a form of transmedia storytelling and its effect to create global culture, and; second, it focuses on internet memes and their global production and circulation. Lastly, it dissects the marketing strategy for merchandise behind the highly new and popular character “Baby Yoda”. While researching, I used marketing and transmedia literature and market research. This research finds that marketing techniques for The Mandalorian (2019-) are linked with nostalgia, that global memes are used for marketing as well, but also that global mélange is on the horizon. I will then conclude by discussing my findings which include how nostalgia marketing is used in Star Wars universe and why this universe keeps expanding. It is very timely that media recently relies heavily on nostalgia marketing.

Abstract: Over the past several years, rural areas in transition countries including Ethiopia have experienced a structural transformation in their agricultural sectors combined with profound demographic changes, primarily due to massive out migration of the rural active and educated labor forces toward urban areas and abroad. Despite the potential relevance of migration and resulting remittances in fostering or hindering of transformation in agriculture, in Ethiopia little is understood about the linkage between these activities. This study aimed to analyze the impact of rural out migration on agricultural production by using a cross-sectional data obtained from randomly chosen 270 rural farm households during 2016/17 production season. A two stage Cobb-Douglas production function was used. The estimated results of the first stage showed that out-migration of labor from rural areas had insignificant effect on the labor hours allocated for agricultural activities of both temporary and permanent migrant sending households. On the other hand, the remittance income from migrant had significant and increasing effect on farm capital stock of permanent migrant sending households. Yet, it had positive but insignificant effect on farm capital stock of temporary migrant sending households. The second stage analysis revealed that migrant sending households obtain higher income than non-migrant sending households especially the permanent one. This indicated that rural out migration had a positive impact on agricultural production of study area on the rural households. The study recommends that Ethiopian government should give emphasis to the potential contributions of outmigration in supporting or generating employment opportunities.

Abstract: Women are the ones that suffer the most from poverty around the world. The determinants of poverty vulnerability among female-headed households in Shashamane district are investigated in this study. In West Arsi Zone, Shashemene district, the study's goals were to assess poverty indicators, poverty levels, and how female-headed households cope with poverty. Mixed methods were employed in this study, with data coming from both primary and secondary sources. A total of 220 people were polled using the simple random sampling approach. A Cost of Basic Needs (CBN) technique was used to establish the total poverty line, and the major data for the study was acquired using structured questioners. The logit regression model and odd ratio analysis were used to analyze the poverty index descriptive statistics. 89 (40.45 percent) of the 220 surveyed household heads were determined to be poor. The results of the logistic regression demonstrate that the household's head's education, age, house ownership, income, and household size are all important factors of the household's susceptibility. Interventions should aim to improve or initiate alternative income generating activities to increase the real income of households through well-paying and better job creation through the establishment of micro and small scale enterprises, and improving the use of family planning with increased economic and social infrastructure to reduce the vulnerability of female headed households. As a result, stakeholder interventions to address the determinant factors are important measures to take, as is strengthening economically and environmentally sustainable coping strategies.

Abstract: Climate change has become a major global environmental issue that is widely concerned by countries around the world. It has been a very clear scientific consensus that the global carbon emission has to be cut urgently, facing the global warming and extreme climate. Currently, few studies on the urban energy consumption in total have been performed, especially the quantitative research on the scale of urban blocks, which is actually required by cities, in order to adopt precise control, optimize energy structure and reduce carbon emissions. It is time for joint action of the four sectors to accurately calculate synthesized energy consumption of each region, realize spatial energy consumption visualization, and formulate energy reduction targets and strategies more accurately. This paper has taken Jingmen, a resource-based city, as a case city. It quantitatively analyzed the spatial data affecting carbon emissions in transportation, industry, and construction sectors, respectively and discussed the impact of urbanization and industrialization on urban energy consumption. It is found that the continuous growth of energy consumption in the industrial sector has been the main driving factor for the city’s total energy consumption growth. The energy consumption of Jingmen showed a trend of increase and concentration. The conclusions can fill up the problems that cannot be found in the energy consumption statistics of cities, and propose a more accurate way to reduce energy consumption in Jingmen City, which provide a reference for the green transformation of similar small and medium-sized resource-based cities.

Abstract: The protection of the ecological environment and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin is a major national strategy. Urbanization is also important and should be promoted more efficiency in China. The ecological environment of the Yellow River Basin has been destroyed, further affecting the process of urbanization. The difficulty of sustainable economic development has increased. Therefore, China needs high-quality economic development. In this context, the coordinated development of the ecological environment, urbanization and high-quality economy in the Yellow River Basin deserve more attention. Based on the time-series data of the Yellow River Basin from 2010 to 2020, this paper analyzes the trend and characteristics of the development of the ecological environment subsystem, urbanization subsystem and high-quality economy subsystem by building a comprehensive evaluation system of the three subsystems, using entropy method and coupling coordination degree model. The results show that: from 2010 to 2020, the comprehensive level show an obvious upward trend; the story of urbanization and high-quality economic growth is higher than the level of ecological environment. Urbanization and economic development show the spatial difference of environmental carrying capacity; the coupling degree has been at a high level, and the coordination degree has changed significantly. We can conclude that the system coordination degree is in a steady upward trend. And, as a whole, it is shifting to order from disorder and getting to the level of coordination. It is helpful to guide the strategy formulation of the coordinated development among the ecological environment, urbanization and high-quality economy in the Yellow River Basin.
